So you know what.. I never realized the blessing of the smell of pine needles. But this weekend I remembered how great they are… more about that later.. I just wanted to tickle your fancy so as you were reading you would wonder about the blessing of pine needles also 🙂
So glory be.. Friday I went back to immigration again.. I had spent about 6 hours there on thursday and also spent time there on wednesday so I was thinking about applying for a job there at immigration. I wish you could see how things work here sometimes. It is hysterical. I mean when it’s tea time.. it’s tea time. All things in the world stop at tea time.. and you better not even think about them starting back for at least another hour or two… or three….. and I did see tourist jail but luckily I did not have to stay in it. I just had to pay a hefty what they like to call fine (aka bribe) and then I was able to get the lost visa. for this month.. so then today we put our visas in process for the other visa that we need to stay here.. so please just be praying for that process.. but glory be.. I got the visa!
Then Saturday afternoon me and two other girls hiked up a mountain to get a way wtih Jesus. Literally hiked up a mountain to stay at a resort kind of place. You see I am trying to be much more diligent about taking sabbath days and making them holy. It’s hard when you don’t get to worship in english or understand the sermons.. so we took us a mini retreat. It was awesome. This is where the pine needles come in. Do you know how happy I was as we hiked up the mountain high enough to get above the smog and I COULD SMELL FRESH AIR AND PINE NEEDLES. This may not seem like a big deal to you. But let me paint a picture for you.. kathmandu … as much as i love the people and that God has placed me here and I mean no harm in saying this… smells like a mixture of poop, trash, and really really strong diseal trucks that give out this incredible black haze. Not exactly something you want to bottle up in a perfume bottle and smell. But up where we were when we hiked up enough above the pollution was FRESH AIR…. and pine needles. I literally laid on the ground in the midst of a big old pile of pine needles.. put my nose right on the ground and found myself in smell heaven. And I wanted to bottle it up.. it’s the little things.
So we spent the night up there and had a great time. We spent the day with jesus and the evening worshipping together. We went on this tower that overlooked the kathmandu valley and we prayed the heavens down for the salvation of kathmandu. It was beautiful…. we sang and prayed and met Jesus up there in that tower. The funny thing was you could tell which parts of the city were on their load shedding no power time and when that part of the city would light up you would know load shedding was over. 🙂
Then let me tell you about this nose ring thing.. apparently I was not meant to have a nose ring. I got it repierced you know.. and it was hilarious. I had read that afternoon in isaiah some passage that talked about God taking the things off the haughty necks of the isrealites that they took pride in… and it mentioned several items like bracelets, headwraps, then it said NOSE RINGS.. so that evening when I was taking a glorious hot shower at the resort my nose ring came out.. and i found it, shoved it back in.. this happened 6 times during the shower.. i decided i was not going to waste a hot shower dealing with this nose ring, so i waited until I got out of the shower. By that time.. guess what.. the hole had closed.. I guess God took that right out of my haughty nose 🙂
