Linking up with my Friend Suzie at her place for Live Free Thursday. Today’s prompt: A Generous Spirit.
I want to be known as someone who has a generous Spirit. I want to hold things loosely so that I can give things away. I want to give my life away.
But as I was preparing to write on this prompt: God took me in a different direction. I could not stop thinking about the generous Spirit of our God.
He is generous with His gifts.
He is generous with His love.
He is generous with His presence.
He was generous with His life.
John 3:16 for He so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that I (we) may have eternal life
He is generous with Heaven.
It makes me think of the Song He is a Good Good Father. ( I will put the YouTube link for that song at the end of this post)
I have been studying 1 Kings. In 1 Kings 3: 5 God tells Solomon, “ Ask what I shall give you.”
I have not been able to get that off my heart. What a generous question from a Generous God. Solomon asked for wisdom—which was a great idea because with it came so many other benefits.
But I have not been able to get that off my heart. What if God came to me and said, “ Jenn ask what I shall give you.” What would I ask for? I think that’s an important thing to think on. What would I ask for?
And what do we do with the fact that at times I have not been given what I asked for from the Lord, and frankly I am so beyond grateful.
He knew the best answer for me at that time was no or not yet because He had a better yes and later. <— click to tweet
He is a generous Father. (even when I do not always understand or like His plan).
James 1: 17 Every good and perfect gift is from God, it comes down from the Father of lights, in whom there is no variation or change.
What a generous God.
Leaves me shouting glory and wanting to say THANK YOU! What generosity has the Father showed you lately?
