Today’s #coffeecupconfession (if you are wondering why in the world I am doing coffee cup confessions, it to go along with my new book Confessions of a Coffee Cup Collector) is: Sometimes it’s scary to want to trust God to move into the deep.
What does that mean?
Friends, I am doing this incredible daily devotional by my friend Suzie Eller
I am talking highlighting almost all of the sentences it’s so good. Full of invitations to Come with Jesus on the adventure of following Him.
Day’s 11, 12 and 13 are full of the reminders to me to go into the DEEP. It follows the story of Simon. Here is He was, sitting in His fishing boat. Granted, unsuccessfully fishing. He was tired, nothing was happening– and this Jesus asked Him if He could borrow His boat.
Can you imagine that today? Hey friend that I don’t know, can I just borrow your boat for a minute or two? I have a sermon to preach.
Simon gave over His boat and ended up giving over His heart. His control of His life. His steps to follow Jesus’s steps.
Here is the thing that really stuck out to me. Jesus told Simon to put the nets into the deep.
Simon was like, ” Um Jesus, I have been fishing. Nothing is happening.
But He obeys. He throws out into the deep, and His nets come back full and breaking.
It’s difficult to be asked to try one more time when we’ve already tried and seemingly failed. It’s difficult when we are tired and God asks us to go deeper. God sees what we don’t.
Today we whisper yes where no wants to take root.
— Suzie Eller, Come With Me Devotional (Day 12)
I sense Jesus in the boat with me. With you.
Well, I don’t own a boat– so I am going to pretend He is here in my house. And He really is here in my heart.
He is inviting me to go deeper– to trust Him. To whisper YES Lord, I will go into the deep.
(Ps: This is all from Luke 5)
Guys, I so want you to have this devotional. I am giving away two copies. So.. 1) comment below with one way I can pray for you as you whisper yes
