Eight days into 2018. How are you doing friend? It is a cold icy day here in Tennessee and I just swallowed as quickly as I could my juice that I just made.
Yup. I am currently obsessed with juicing. Who knows how long it will last it probably will end up going the same way as the Smoothie obsession of 2015 and the curry obsession of 2014. Bought a juicer and juicing all the things. I just did a very healthy looks like I am bleeding to death juice when I cut the beets up and radish and carrot juice. True confession, I am not a fan of the radishes.
So eight days in, still sticking with my juicing New Years resolution– but let’s see in April.
Another is to read the Bible through this year. So of course in Genesis right now. Been reading these past few days about Abraham. He was told to go to a promised land.
He was given a promise but was not given the process. He was simply told to go.
Abraham did it. He took the risk. He started the journey. He took one step then another.
Today I was watching a live Facebook video with my dear friend Kim Highland. She has an incredible book coming out in February called an An Imperfect Woman. (Ps: Guess what you can pre-order this book now and get all kinds of awesome bonuses. I will post a picture and click on the picture to take you to the website where you can pre-order. Run, don’t pass go– get this thing!)
On this video, Kim said both perfectionism and procrastination are rooted in fear.
Listen, friends, I can procrastinate with the best of them. I may not be a perfectionist, but this hit me in the gut. Am I procrastinating on things because I am afraid? Because I might not do it right? Because I am overwhelmed? Because of all those reasons?
What if I really let His perfect love cast out my fear this year and just do the thing.
Step by step obedience. Trusting His promise even when I am not sure the process. (click to tweet)
I am beginning to realize that I am more of a perfectionist than I think. That I am afraid I will be too messy, too much… too insert an insecurity based on a lie from Satan.
And that can cause me to procrastinate obedience.
So today I am praying that like Abraham, I will obey God, risk and trust the outcome.
Leave a comment below letting me know if you struggle more with procrastination or perfectionism. I will 1) pray for you 2) enter your name in a drawing for my friend Kim’s book.
Last thing: I would love to invite you to the Online Bloom winter conference. You can watch live this weekend January 12th and January 13th or if you grab a ticket you can watch the replay anytime.
